WELCOME TO THE WIRES OF CHEVIOT
Breeder: C. Robin Pensinger

I am passionate about Wire Fox Terriers. Flirtatious Galawishus or simply Gal was the first to arrive at my home in Decatur, Illinois when I was just eight years old. The name fit Gal as she was very flirtatious, mischievous, and irresistible. Because of her independence, attitude, personality, and loyalty, I am now and forever smitten with a lifelong love of Wire Fox Terriers.

Life’s journey led my husband and me to Minnesota where Jack began participating in Obedience competition with our Wire Fox Terrier. To our surprise Bandit became the number one Obedience Wire Fox Terrier in the United States for three consecutive years. Because of Bandit, being a special needs Wire, we built an upscale Boarding Canine Care Center and opened in 1979.

In the fall of 1985 Cedarbriar Kennel sold us a lovely twelve-week-old female we named Cedarbriar’s Autumn Cheviot. Chevi received many honors in the conformation ring earning her the distinction of ultimately becoming our foundation bitch and Cheviot Kennel namesake.

When puppies came along starting in 1989 we began naming them after exclusive and interesting cars. Jack named Champion Cheviots Lamborghini Diablo because he said Diablo ran like a super charged sports car revving-up his engine into every turn like the speedster he was. Then came Alfa Romeo, Pierce Arrow, Riley Sprite, and Carrera Porsche, just to name a few…all speedsters in their own right. True Wire Fox Terriers but different in personality. All were and are individuals as no two over the years have ever been the same. Similar? Yes, but not the same.
My goal is to produce a healthy, happy, beautiful Wire with good temperament who is correct in type and preserving the style I deem important. Most Wires in the show ring today are very different in style. One style is not better than the other styles but preserving quality and type should be of the utmost importance to all…for therein lies the answer to the success of the breed in the years to come.

I do not sell show dogs but sell puppies that may have the potential for becoming a show dog. However anything can happen during different growth patterns and like most breeders a good home, where love abounds, is my preference whether it be a show Wire or pet/companion Wire home.

Please contact me if you are interested in having a Cheviot Wire Fox Terrier as a special part of your family.
